stand up for girls and women who don’t like to read. stand up for girls and women who can’t read. stand up for girls and women with low IQs. stand up for girls and women who can’t write. stand up for girls and women whose access to education has been prevented. for those with learning disorders. for those who mix up “your” and “you’re” because it’s not that big a fucking deal tumblr. stand up for women who are called ableist slurs for these things and stop implying that the only way to be a feminist icon is by being an intellectual.

Destroy the idea that men should respect women because we are their daughters, mothers, and sisters. Reinforce the idea that men should respect women because we are people.
I hate how society demoralizes and destroys women’s self esteem. Women shouldn’t have to go around thinking they are ugly or not good enough because of what others say is beautiful or not.
It’s always surprising to me how many young women think they have to be perfect. I rarely meet a young man who doesn’t think he already is.

I am definitely a feminist. I’m fucking disgusted by the way women are still treated. It’s 1993 and some people still think we’re in the 1950’s. We need to make more progress. There needs to be more female musicians, more female artists, more female writers. Everything is dominated by fucking males, and I’m sick of it!
You know what is disgusting?
The fact that i am on high alert every time i walk home from school, keys in my hand, constantly looking behind me to see if anyone is following.
The fact that i am SCARED to walk by myself down my own street.
The fact that my mum tells me to be careful because a man grabbed her when she was my age.
The fact that 1 in 3 women will be sexually abused before the age of 16.
The fact that society has conditioned us to be scared, and i am terrified of shadows in the night.
